Wordless Wednesday: Snow in October

Snow in October... Something that I am convinced should never happen... ever again!
This was within the first hour of the snow fall, we went on to get eight inches of snow in my front yard, and of course our neighbor's tree came down right in front of the house to close the road.
My van was NOT happy with all of this considering I need new front tires, which I was planning on getting in two weeks.
Who the hell expects SNOW in October?!?!?

Halloween is Kind of a Big Damn Deal!

Halloween is kind of a big damn deal in my house. I love Halloween and it has been one of my favorite holiday's since I was a kid.   I love every aspect of it. The hauntings, the history, the dressing up and of course the candy to rot everyone's teeth.

My mother can attest, I am a Halloween nut!   So this year I started a new tradition to go along with my obsession.  As you can see by the picture... I made my kids Halloween baskets.

You know, like Easter baskets, but minus those nasty peeps, and plus cool Halloween accessories like coloring books and Halloween socks!   I mean, there is so much themed gift stuff this time of year, it was easy and cheap to put together.  The best part is the little baskets I got to put the treats in, the kids will use tonight to trick or treat!

Trick or Treat Safety Tips

Yup!  Another Halloween post from good ol’ Danielle!   Can you tell this is really my favorite time of the year?
Today I am tackling safety while trick or treating. Going door to door at night with little light, in costumes isn’t really the safest thing our kids can be doing but there are ways we, as parents can make it safer for them.   Because of course it isn’t something we can skip with the kids.

Halloween Costumes WILL Be the DEATH of Me!

Yes, lots of Halloween themed posts this week because my toddlers are
completely obsessed with it!

I cannot get away from it no matter where I turn.  My oldest son decided he wanted to be a fireman, just like he was last year, and of course all year long.  I suggested he be something different because of course he should be costing me another $50 on a costume this Halloween right?
Yup! I am the only parent that encourages their child to get a new costume apparently. Anyway!

Skip the Candy! 10 Alternative Halloween Treats

Halloween traditionally is full of candy. Lots and lots of candy, and even a week before Halloween my two toddlers are already on a sugar rush from the different Halloween related events we have been to where candy has been the main treat.
While we don’t stay home and give out treats to trick or treaters in our area, if I did I would be skipping the candy and springing for some more alternative, healthier, and downright fun treats. Kids are going to get enough candy for the night so why not try and switch it up a little bit?

Halloween Must Haves!

I think Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year… and I am sure my readers here have already really established that as well right? Ha!
I have been looking for little treats and treasures to put into my kids Halloween morning baskets in our house, and to me handmade things are priceless, and they often last a really long time.
Etsy has to be my favorite website to buy handmade items, as well as holiday themed items.  I put together a Halloween must have list for our youngest over on Baby’s First Year, but I really wanted to do one with all the neat toddler stuff I found.  I tried to equally split it all up between boys and girls as well.

You Ready for Halloween?

Halloween is almost upon us!  And it just happens to be one of my favorite holidays of the year.  I mean, who doesn't love Christmas, and your own birthday... but as someone with a weak spot for horror movies and ghost stories... Halloween is like Christmas for me!

I have been collecting little Halloween treats from coloring books to crayons for a "Halloween Basket" to leave out for the kids Halloween morning.  Am I one of the only people that turns an Easter tradition into a Halloween treat?

15 Halloween Etsy Must Haves

Hats, hair bows, bibs, and even tethers… all of the adorable handmade gear your little one needs this Halloween.
I look forward for this time of year because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love Christmas but there is just something awesome about ghost stories, hauntings, and of course lots of candy!
I searched through Etsy and found some of the cutest, and coolest handmade stuff and put together my favorite 15. At least that I have found so far…

Halloween Coloring Pages for your Kids!

Halloween is right around the corner, and what is more fun than printable coloring pages for the kids?  I know they are a huge hit in my house.
They are also coming home from our three year old’s pre-school by the dozens, and it is neat to see all the progress he is making as far as his coloring within the lines skills.
I found all kinds, from cute cats and kids in costumes, to your classic scary Halloween type pages with ghosts and zombies.  I mean really, who does’t love a good zombie these days right?
I hope your kids enjoy all of these as much as mine have!

Cool Halloween Crafts for Toddlers

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the weather starts to get a little cooler, and fall is upon us, I am planning for Halloween and all the cute things we can do around the house, and out of the house.

Pumpkin picking, apple picking, fall fairs and festivals, the Big E… I mean the list continues forever. Heck if money wasn’t an object I would go to all of them!

Along with my Pinterest obsession has come an insane interest in toddler crafts for around the house, and now that Halloween is upon us I am so into Halloween crafts it isn’t even funny.
