I packed up my little Addison and headed to the train station at 5:30 in the morning so I could be in the city and walk a half dozen blocks to the conference hotel in time for registration to be over. Little did I know the 7-9 registration window would have turned into an all day thing because someone was always sitting at the registration table. But I guess being on time feels good, even if it also makes you feel like you were hit my a Mac Truck!
It was a day of chance meetings. The first one starting on the train on the way into the city with a locally based graphic designer that was heading to another conference. Small world right?
Robin got the room up to Katy Perry |
Dori and I had a chance to talk later on in the day, and realized we were both from the same area, and for a long period of time she actually lived right down the street from me, for real! I really look forward to spending some more time with her in the upcoming months.
Oh and by the way, that panel included so much awesome information. I would love to write up a short post with all the information from each session I came across. We'll see if I can ever find time for that right?
But I would have to say my highlight of the entire day was probably seeing Robin Syler speak as one of the many keynotes on Saturday morning. She was downright inspirational. I felt like so many of the things she was saying was directed directly at me. With all going on in my life with my sister, so many of the things she said hit the nail right on the head.
My favorite lines from Robin:
- Fear is not your friend
- You need people who are going to stoke your fire, not soak your fire!
- STOP MAKING MOMMY CRAZY!
- This whole motherhood thing is hard
- Not everyone will like you... Let that be THEIR problem! (AMEN!)

Now I think the majority of the people who had the awesome chance to hear her speak insist she needs her own TV show. YOU HEAR THAT OPRAH?
I am really glad I had the chance to make it into the city yesterday. While it was certainly a work out and adventure with Addison, I would do it over again for sure! Except this time I wouldn't walk two blocks past the train station and miss the train home I was hoping to be on. HA!
I am going to be hosting a couple giveaways in the upcoming weeks which pertain to SheStreams, and don't be surprised when you start seeing some awesome posts on social media, blogging, and some of the great lessons I learned during my day at She Streams yesterday!
And a big shout out to all the awesome ladies who introduced themselves to the crazy lady with the space age green stroller and the only little girl there!
