1800Specs.com Review

1800Specs.com offered a free pair of glasses to review recently, and since my insurance decided they hate me and not continue yearly replacements of my frames which I was never notified of, I was stuck with a new prescription and broken frames to put them in.

I never realized that my prescription is actually mine to keep, and one thing I really want to stress in this post is no matter what your eye doctors office may tell you, your prescription is yours. You can take it and go anyplace you would like with it. PERIOD.
You learn something new every day right?

So ordering my glasses was a walk in the park, after I wrestled my prescription from the eye doctors office. No joke, I literally had to drive to the office to get it and wait around. They refused to mail it, fax it, or give it to me over the phone. Maybe they are working with the gas companies?

The first thing I really liked about the website is instead of looking for your glasses first, you enter in your prescriptions and it shows you what frames are actually available for that prescription. I can't tell you how many times in the past I fell in love with a pair of frames and then couldn't get them with my specific script.  At 1800specs.com you completely avoid that!

Then I saw them!  The Doreen frames and I knew I had found the pair that would be mine!

My face only looks good in certain kinds of glasses, and they all seem to be squared lens styles.

They are classy and business appropriate, but funky and fun at the same time. Which is what I loved most about them. I could wear them bumming around the house and look fine. But I could also hop the train to Manhattan for a meeting and still look fantastic, and appropriate!

Check out was simple, and all of your normal options like anti-glare lenses, and anti-scratch lenses are available, and if you have young children like I do, they are also a must have. I can't tell you how long I have lived with a giant scratch on my last pair because Ben loves to pull them off my night stand and wear them around the house when I am looking the other way.  At one point I actually found them in his bed as well!

Another great perk of the site is the affordability. Your average pair of glasses today are not cheap by any means. Even at your chain stores like Walmart or lens crafters you are looking at at least $160+ but you can find a pair of glasses for as low as $20 at 1800specs.com.   For real!

All total with the bells and whistles, and of course my frames which were a little more expensive than the average pair, shipping, anti-glare, anti-scratch, and all that fun stuff, my pair came out to a little less than $130.  That is a huge discount over what it would have been in your average retail store.  Heck at my own eye doctor I would have been looking at around $300.

SAVE.YOUR.MONEY!

Shipping although is slow. When you are ordering a custom item of his nature, you are not going to expect the product over night. I ordered my frames on October 5th, later on in the day, and received them first thing in the morning via USPS on October 22nd.  Turn around time is advertised as a minimum of seven business days.

I am a super impatient person, so that drove me a little crazy, but other than that everything was awesome with the site, including their customer service contact Karen.   And I would recommend them over and over again.

Get your prescription and order online!  Moms, if you have kids, get on here and order cheap frames that you aren't going to cry if someone breaks them.  I mean, not that I would be happy if my kids broke mine, but knowing how affordable they are would make it slightly easier to deal with right?

Go ahead! Take a look at the site, and see how many different frames they have to offer, you will not be disappointed I promise.
