On display in the Apple Store |
Well forever I was a PC. I never imagined I could give up my PC because it simply was user friendly and what I was used to. I am a creature of habit, I like knowing exactly what I am doing when it comes to my electronics.
In high school I had used Mac compacters for Yearbook and I thought they would be the death of me. For real.
Well last Sunday I ordered a brand new kick ass HP laptop. My Asus has been on its last leg for a week or two, and I didn't love it enough to put the work into it that it needed to be fixed. Call me selfish!
Addie in the Apple Store right before she had a meltdown and had to breastfeed at THAT moment! |
Well, yesterday as I was still waiting for my HP to ship even though I bought it on Sunday... my order status showed up as canceled. I called and they told me the purchase was flagged as fraud. Um... Because I used a debit card?
At that moment I told them they could keep the computer and I went to the Apple site. I have been working to build up my personal credit and I figured I would apply for their Visa card and give the whole Mac thing a try. I have been wanting to switch for years.
As I got the approval they told me I could actually go to the Apple Store and pick my computer out that same day instead of waiting for the card, or purchasing online and waiting for that dreading shipping thing! Seems like I have bad luck with shipping anyway!
So after my husband got out of work I packed the kids up, and we headed 45 minutes north to the closest Apple store to us inside one of my favorite malls. So it was a double bonus!
I was totally in shock at the well oiled machine called the Apple Store. I walked in, put my name in and was 8th in line. She brought me to the Macbook Air I had been looking at online earlier in the day so I could play with it while I waited for my Apple pro to help me out. During that time Addie also decided she was hungry and made a scene.
The Apple store employee who helped me also brought me a jazzy stool to sit on and feed Addie. So here I was, first time in the Apple Store, breastfeeding like it is nothing. And the employees there were awesome about it! Big up to the Danbury Apple Store for being supportive of breastfeeding moms!
Finally it was check out time, and I scored a $100 Apple gift card, and $150 off my computer. Double score! And I walked out a new Mac owner!
I spent about an hour playing with the computer last night before I passed our around midnight. I just couldn't hang anymore.
Now I am rocking it out on the couch while my kids play with the Melissa and Doug Band in the Box I also picked up at the mall. See... I was planning ahead! Band in a box = slight headache, but amused kids for hours.
So now... Mac users! Come in!
Tell me how to use this thing, your favorite programs, tricks, commands, and all that fun stuff! Hook a new convert up!
I have had my mac a year and still haven't figured out all of the neat things it can do. I just love it though. It really is easy to use once you get used to it. And it is soooo reliable. My husband and I both bought Dells a while back (before our Macs). His Dell was completely dead in less than a year. Just wouldn't do anything but power on. Mine was dead within two. My wirless card stopped working, it was slow, and the keys started falling off the keyboard. Our macs? My husband's is almost 2 years old and mine is over a year old and not a single problem and we drop them all the time and they haven't broken. I mean my husband dropped his on the tile floor! I wish I knew some cool programs, but haven't had a chance to try any out yet. But I do love photo booth. I take pics of me and my son on there all the time. :) And it is so easy to facebook photos straight from iphoto.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the switch - you will NOT be disappointed. Each of our Mac laptops have lasted us about 4 years and our desktops have lasted longer. They are seriously completely user friendly. And if you have an iPhone it makes syncing up a cinch. Look through the online Apple store also - you can find a lot of free apps for your computer. I found Sketchbook on there (either free or a dollar or so - can't remember) - it's a great simple little drawing program similar to Adobe Illustrator - not as fancy, but cheap, and quite useful for bloggers! You can also find free or very cheap kid's stuff on there too. You just purchase it and immediately download instead of having to go buy a CD or something.
