Michele Bachmann: The Case For Better Women in Politics

Oh Michelle!

How desperately I pray that the young women in our country start to take an interest in politics at a young age, and grow up to be positive, intelligent, and strong women because we are running low in this department lately.

Politics in our country is business as usual, but it seems like the more women that come into the spotlight, at least on the side of the GOP, the worse the reputation of women in politics becomes.

First there is Hilary Clinton who I love. In 2008 I hoped and prayed she would win the democratic nomination for President. Not only did the Clinton's do a great job in the White House, but she would have been the first woman President. Right after Barack Obama won the nomination, Sarah Palin fell into our laps. A name, and woman most of America had never heard of, or about. I wish I could go back to 2008 and un-learn about her as well.

Now, well... Now we have Michelle Bachmann. The foster mom which I give her huge props on, but her views, and her husband... and lack of brain have me in a tizzy. Her husband the Christian councilor who offers services to pray away the gay and cure people of the gay illness? What kind of fuckery is that?  But that is a whole other post in itself.

But what really set me off was her comments on Iran this week. I first read about it in the Huffington Post and I had to giggle a little because her and Sarah Palin... well if you put the two of them together you may just have an entire functioning human brain!

Per the Huffington Post:

Michele Bachmann told supporters in Iowa on Wednesday of her lofty plans for American diplomacy, claiming that a Bachmann presidency would mean no U.S. embassy in Iran.

An embassy which hasn't existed since 1980, before I was even born. You would think someone who is running for basically the most important elected office in the entire world would know a little more about foreign policy.

And this is the shit that scares me. Sarah Palin could see Russia from her house, and now Bachmann is going to close an embassy that doesn't exist in a country that we could be at war with if we end up with the wrong person in the White house after the 2012 election.

We need more women getting into politics and jumping on the front lines so we can get these damn dingbats out of the spotlight. They give all women a bad name.

Watch and see... the more commentators come out against them, the most misogynistic stuff will come out along with it.

It is not about the left or the right politics, because we all know I am as far left as they come, it is about getting intelligent women who actually belong in Washington there!

These aren't the role models our daughters should be looking up to. We need more Hilary Clinton's and less Ann Coulter's. We need more educated, positive women who are on their game.

If not... what will we end up with in another 40 years?
